One of the first and undoubtedly one of the best merseybeat-groups. Their full and driving sound was one the few which were comparable with the early merseysound of the Beatles. Except the excellent single-hit, Dont make me over the songs of this CD are never released in Europe or in the USA. A special jewel of this CD is the title Where am I going? 1970 because it was released under the name As Music Motor, not Swinging Blue Jeans. I think it is known only a few fans of the group.

The Rocking Ghosts wasone of the most popularDanish groups in thesixties both in Denmark,but also around the world,The Rocking Ghostsreleased records in a lot ofcountries Germany ,Japan, U.S.A. , Mexico, etc.Originally started as aschoolband early 1962 witha trumpet as leadinginstrument! But changedstyle and instruments inthe middle of the sameyear. They were heavilyinspired of Cliff Richardand not at least theShadows, so naturally theirfirst recordings wereinstrumentals. Their firstsingle ôVilja oh Viljaö wasa rocktreatment of a FranzLÚhar classic. Their realwith the fourth singleôBelindaö. Placed high inthe charts in 13 months inDenmark and released inmost Europaincountries. An even greatersuccess followed in 1966with their rearrangement ofJohan Strauss ô-ber denWellenö, which becameôOh What A Kissö. Therecord sold alone 60.000copies in Denmark, whichwas a very big figure for arockrecord in those years.The Rocking Ghosts image was always the niceguys – no long hair, alwaysnice suits, but in 1967 theytried to chance their imageto the new flower powerstyle. But the changedidn t give them any newfans and they lost a lot ofthe group decided to splitup.In this double CD you llfind the completerecordings for the RockingGhosts first 4 years.I 1974 the group reformedbut mainly as a dance andDanish middle-of-the-roadband.The group still excisttoday in that style.

Delta Blues Band was originally formed as Delta Blues Boogie Band in may 1968 in Copenhagen. The group was established around Troels Jensen and Thomas Puggaard MŘller,who had been the bluegrass-duo Troels & Thomas. Together with Michael Puggaard MŘller and Soeren Engel they started to play traditional blues in the small clubs in Copenhagen. In the spring 1969 they got the chance to record an album for the big established record-company E.M.I. and their album was one of the first rockalbums using multitrack technique in Denmark. Technique or not the album sold extremely badly. Just after the release of their debut album the brothers Thomas and Michael left the group to form the successful, but very shortliving group Pan. The next couple of yearsthe group was playing a loton Festivals and as backingfor touring bluespeople likeSonny Terry,Link Wray,Joh Lee Hooker,Bo Diddleyetc.,but the group was stillunderground and had notgot their real breakthrough.One of the reasons mighthad been the constantchange of members,so thegroup never really learnedto play together.The groupbegan to sell records,whenthey recorded “NoOverdubs”with theamerican guitarplayer BillyCross.The group hadalready worked togetherwith Cross,when he visitedDenmark in 1974-75 then asBilly Schwartz.In theeighties became DeltaCross Band a very popularliveband,not only inDenmark,but on festivals inScandinavi,Germany andthe rest of Europe.But allthat is history.Here youhave the very first albumfrom the Danish blueslegends Delta Blues Band.Delta Blues Band 1969:Troels Jensen (el-g,org,lead vol)Thomas Puggaard-MŘller (vo,el-g)Soeren Engel (el-bass,vo)Michael Puggaard MŘller (dr)Guests on album on variousblowing instruments:BentHesselmann,Kjeld Ipsen,JensJoergen GjedstedHurdy GurdyStarted as B.B.Brothers inCopenhagen and hadreleased a terricfic single”Balla Balla/Dont Reply” in 1966. Like HurdyGurdy they made their firstsingle on Spectator recordsand sold nothing. Two moresingles on more establishedcompanies like Sonet andCBS did not any better. The Lollipops started up,when they won a childrentalentcontest in Copenhagenin 1960 at the age of 10,9and 12 year.Thebandmembers was the twoLundgreen-brothers Torbenand Joergen and the twoyear older uncle PoulPetersen.In 1961-62 theyplayed a lot in the SwedishFolkparks and gota recordingcontract withSwedish Karusell in 1963.Their first record was a coverversion of Connie FrancisôLollipop Lips”,but quicklythe boys showed that theyhad talent for writing naďvecatchy pop and rocksongs.Itwas the Beatleish”Do you know”,which gavethem theirbigSwedishbreak-through and inthe nextyearsthe three boys meet a realLollipopmania especially inthe south of Sweden.In 1965they did their first album withonly selfcomposed songs.InSeptember 1966 PoulPetersen left the group andHenrik Lund from Stoke Sectjoined them on drums.Funny enough thebreakthrough for the guys intheir own country Denmarkcame first in 1967 with “Stop (before you break my heart)”. This was the start for astring of successful singlesin Denmark.On stage and on record thegroup used variousbassplayers among thoseStig Kreutzfeldt and HansBandman.The Lollipops wasa sixties phaenomenand in the latesixties they gotproblems writingrocksongs,whichsuited the time.They tried to be alittle progressivewith ôOn My Way öin 1969,included here as a specialbonus,but returned quicklyto covers of popsongs likeôMaxwell ĺs silverhammer ö(69),Goody goodygumdrops ö(70)and ôRa ta tata ö(71).The group broke up in 1971,but came back in 1973 thistime mainly with songs inDanish and other string of successful hits followed. On this double CD you ĺll findthe complete output from thegroup 1963-1967 plus theirEnglish singles from 1968.They made a bad album in1968,which there wasn ĺtroom for on this collection.

1962-1967

Once upon a time five guysstarted up a group calledthe Strangers. It was inCopenhagen in 1959 and themusic was rock n roll.In early 1962 they got arecordcontract andchanged name to the FiveDanes. (The record includedhere). The group ended upearly 1964 and three of themembers started up the trioSir Henry and his Butlers.They appeared already inapril in a contest beeing theDanish Beatles. Soon afterthe group etablishedthemselves as a quartet.The group became a hugesuccess on the Copenhagenbeatscene – not at least atthe popular ôPlace Pigalleöin the famous amusementpark ôBakkenö outsideCopenhagen. Actually theplace which is showed onthis CD s frontcover.The Group made their debuton Sonet with the not verysuccessful ôHi-HeelSneakersö, but the realbreakthrough came laterthe same year with ôLet sGoö. A big Scandinavian hitwhich gave the group asilverrecord for 50.000 soldcopies in Scandinavia. Thiswas quite a lot for a Danishgroup those days.In the following years thegroups made several Danishhits among the biggest wereôMarianneö, ôHucklebucköand ôBeautiful Brown Eyesö,which actully became verypopular after they hadplayed it live in a Scandi -navian Televisonshow andthe song was rush releasedas the new b-side on theirlastest single ôJenny take ARideö .ôMr. Joyfulö was the start ofan new area for the groupwith selfwritten songs andalready in autumn 1967 theygot an international hit withthe weird instrumentalôCampö. The odd ôPrettyStyleö was on the b-side andgave a lot of recordcollectorsthe impression thatSir Henry was a Danishpsychedelic group!!!When the beattime was overSir Henry continued into theseventies with selfwrittencatchy popsongs and thegroup still excist with OleBredahl as the only originalmember.On this double CD you ll findtheir first 3 albums plus thesingles from the period1962-1967.As a special bonus you llfind a ôsupergroupö-medleyfrom 1964 were Sir Henryplayed together with 2 otherDanish topgroups from thattime: The Defenders andPeter Belli & Les Rivals.
